Getting locked out is one of the most stressful things that can happen, especially on a cold night in the UK. You start to wonder if you’re ever going to get into your house as you frantically Google Emergency Locksmith phone numbers. You still then worry about what they can do and are you going to need a glazier to fix a smashed window. Well, let’s answer some of your questions at what a locksmith can do when he’s called to a lockout.
I’ll put our “sales pitch” in here first off. We don’t charge a call-out fee. So if you store our number and ever get stuck you can call us and know you’re not getting charged the earth.
A Locksmith can open your house door with a special set of tools. They are highly trained at opening a variety of different doors within minutes. Meaning, if you call one out in an emergency, when they arrive you’ll almost be inside instantly. Their tools include lock picks, screwdrivers and drills. What is actually used really depends on the door that you have and the locks inside your door.
UPVC House Door: These are generally straight forward to get into. Although they look good, however, security is far from great. We always recommend having your locks changed if you have a standard UPVC front door.
Composite or Wood Door: Again, relatively simple to gain access. However, these doors often come with a mortice lock. If you have your mortice lock on then it may slow us down a little bit, however, we will still get you inside your home and back into the warmth.
Rock Door: We class these in a similar category to UPVC doors. In the last 2 years, Rock has been shipping doors with anti-pick locks. Yes, these require a little bit more difficult and possibly drilling of the lock (last resort). However, we carry stock of these on the van to replace so that you’re never in your home without a decent set of locks. If you purchased your rock door longer than 2 years ago, then you need to change your locks. They were shipped with standard locks and require something a bit more secure. You’ve paid 100s of pounds for a massively secure door with a lock that is poor.
There are a number of specialist locks around that are extremely secure. They will generally have a key that looks almost alien. Now if you have one of these locks we almost certainly need a drill. We will not be beaten, however, so we can open your house door no matter what lock you have. The biggest question is time, and this all depends on how serious you take your home security.
The last thing we will say on home security is if you don’t take it seriously then it means people can gain access into your property with tools readily available on amazon. If you really want to avoid that then you should give us a call straight away. We can arrange a FREE home security check and let you know the costs of beefing up your home to make it almost bulletproof.
Contact Lock Safe to discuss your needs. Our friendly staff will help you 24 hours a day.
